The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company is launching an e-payment system from 5th August.
The Rahal e-Diesel card is intended to automate selling diesel at ADNOC service stations across the country, a statement said.
Customers will be given the option of buying the pre-paid cards in three different denominations ranging between 600 and 1500 gallons. Buses and trucks with a load capacity of three tons will have a monthly allocation of 600 gallons. The vehicles with the load capacity ranging between 3 to 5 tons will be given cards which entitle them to purchase 900 gallons, while those with the capacity exceeding 5 tons will be allocated 1500 gallons per month.
If the monthly allotment is not used in the specified period, it will not be carried over to the following month. The Rahal e-diesel cards will be issued at ADNOC service stations against a non-refundable fee of AED 50, and in case a customer wants to cancel his card with a written application, he will be refunded AED 100 in cash from the remaining value of the allotment.
A period of ten days up to 15th August has been announced to facilitate transition from cash purchase to e-payment. Individuals who carry the Rahal smart card can use it in the place of Rahal e-diesel card until 31st October.
