Three
more fuel suppliers in Tanzania could be hit with regulatory penalties
for failure to comply with a government directive to resume supplies.
Haruna Masebu, director general of the Energy and Water Utilities
Regulatory Authority (EWURA) said that Oil Com Ltd., Camel Oil Ltd., and
Engen Petroleum Ltd. have been served warnings.
Masebu said two more oil marketing firms, Total Tanzania Ltd. and Oryx Tanzania Ltd., were also being investigated for allegedly disrupting fuel supply. The warnings come after one firm was suspended for the same violation, BP Tanzania.
BP Tanzania was suspended from selling petrol, diesel, and kerosene for three months. However, EWURA has permitted the company to sell its stock to wholesalers to avoid loss of quality, but stressed that such deals will be conducted under its supervision.
