The South African Petroleum Industry Association has warned motorists
in the coastal areas to be vigilant, as some petrol stations are
charging more for lead replacement petrol (LRP) than they should.
Colin McClelland, the director of the association, says they have discovered that some petrol stations in Cape Town are charging too much for lead replacement petrol. LRP is the new fuel to be used in cars which previously used leaded petrol. McClelland says motorists should pay the same price as that quoted for unleaded petrol.
Most grades of petrol and diesel are cheaper from last week. The retail price of 93 unleaded petrol and lead replacement petrol decreased by six cents a litre to R5 36. The inland price for 95 ULP has however increased by four cents to R5 49. At the coast, the price of 95 ULP and LRP decreased by six cents a litre to R526. Diesel is between seven and twelve cents a litre cheaper.
