PetroSA will start an scheduled shutdown of its Mossel Bay gas-to-liquids refinery at the weekend.
The State-owned company says that the statutory shutdown will start
on September 26. The shutdown is aimed at ensuring the integrity of
equipment and systems at both the GTL refinery and the FA Platform, in
compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, the Occupational Health
and Safety Act and in order to maintain its operating permit.
PetroSA has warned that the shutdown will affect the supply of certain
products, such as liquid petroleum gas, propane, carbon dioxide, liquid
nitrogen and liquid oxygen, between September 22 and November 14.
However, it has, in the run-up to the shutdown, built up stocks of
these products to ensure that it can fulfill its obligations to its
stakeholders.
