The Director of the South African Petroleum Retailer's Association, Peter Noke, has said that continuing problems at refineries and Durban harbour could take up to two weeks to resolve. Speaking to Beeld newspaper, Noke said that this would lead to continued shortages.
The Afrikaans daily reported that stations in the Guateng area began running dry at the weekend. In response to periodic fuel shortages during December, South African MPs had urged the fuel industry in January to devise a co-ordinated plan to prevent future supply problems.
