Q8 Oils, an affiliate of Kuwait Petroleum has succeeded in marketing its products in North Africa.
Q8 Oils initially launched its operations back in 2008 in
Tunisia with its products retailing in 100 petrol service
stations across Tunisia. Q8 Oils Sales' Director in the Middle
East and North Africa Abdulmohsin Homoud stated that it adopted a
policy that aims at a large-scale franchising in North Africa as its
operations currently cover Morocco as well as Tunisa. The next
step is for the company to enter the Libyan and Algerian markets.
The company which traditionally focused on the European market is now
shifting focus to the North African countries, Homoud said, adding that
he was expecting that Q8 Oils would be able to sell six million liters
a year in the region. Q8 Oils' operations cover 58 countries
worldwide, 27 of which are located in Europe, he said, and noted that
the company is planning to merchandize in Qatar, Iran, Syria, Pakistan,
Sudan, and Uganda next.
Operations in Tunisia were initiated in 2008, but due to high prices of
fuels and oils, the company was not able to market effectively until a
year ago, he said. In 2009, more than 500,000 liters were
distributed in the Moroccan and Tunisian markets. The Tunisian market
accounted for the sale of 300,000 liters, he noted, expecting that it
would jump to 1,800,000 in the next five years. Homoud said that
the industrial sector in Tunisia and North Africa was in a constant
search for high-quality products and this was the company's drive to
improve its products and present products with competitive
prices. The products are highly reputed and accredited by major
automotives' manufacturers such as Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Scania,
Volkswagen, and others, he said.
Q8 Oils is considering the possibility of producing 1,700 oil products
and selling industrial lubricants in some Islamic and Middle Eastern
markets such as Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey, he said. He added
that efforts were exerted to boost the company's operations in the
fields of minerals, cables, the production of paper and cement, and
energy.
