Iran: Government Seeks to Organise Joint Petrochemical Market

Iran’s Minister for Industry, Mine and Commerce, Mehdi Ghazanfari, has proposed to establish a joint petrochemical market between eight developing countries, the D8. At a summit of D8 industry ministers industry, Ghazanfari proposed that the member countries pool knowledge and resources to collaborate on research, development and training services.
Speaking to his counterparts from Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia Malaysia, Nigeria Pakistan and Turkey, he added that joint research could lead to the development of a common car. Ghazanfari urged that representatives from the eight member countries should advance negotiations on the issue. Previously, Iran had held bilateral talks with Turkey on several projects including a joint car.
