Mexico’s state-run oil firm, Pemex, has said that it is making progress on an industrial accord with Repsol YPF following a long boardroom battle. The proposed agreement will see Pemex maintaining its stake in Repsol at between 5% and 10%, while the two sides will also seek opportunities to collaborate on mutually beneficial projects.

Essar Energy has renewed an agreement to import crude oil from Iran for another five years, according to The Hindu. Speaking to the newspaper, which did not name its sources, a company spokesman declined to comment on the specifics of a deal. However, he added that “Essar Oil continues to be able to source the crude that it requires from Iran.”

Members of Nigeria’s Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream have sharply criticised the condition of the country’s Kaduna refinery following a visit to the facility. Speaking to the media, Senator Magnus Abe (pictured) said that Kaduna was operating at below 30% of its capacity, with several plants not functioning.

As part of its overall loyalty programme, ExxonMobil plans to launch a pilot test of Shopkick, a smartphone app that awards consumers points just for entering a store. More points can then be earned by scanning a product's barcode or making purchases, and users can then exchange these points at any retailer that is part of the Shopkick alliance, which includes Home Depot, Target, Macy's, Toys R Us, Old Navy and Best Buy, as well as more than 30 large brands such as Gerber, Procter & Gamble, Revlon and Levi’s.
